Senior portraits are a huge and important part of a high school senior’s year! They are ending an era of school and were part of experiences, events and activities that formed who they are. This is such an important year to get professional senior pictures to cherish this year, remember the hard work and dedication and fun that they had.

Why is it important to get a variety of photos?

Your senior has many sides to their interests and personality. Designing a photo session with your photographer that includes their many interests, talents and accomplishments deserves to be celebrated with the best photo experience!

This senior photo session was the full experience you can expect from Kara Hendricks Photography. The senior featured here was an amazing athlete, so of course, we had to take some pictures of her in uniform and show off all of the medals she won in her track & field hurdles events. She also chose a few different outfits to show the different styles she wore: casual jeans with a nice flowy bouse, a casual dress in blue which looks great in a nature type background, an additional overalls-style dress in a rusty-red color that complimented the greens and yellows in the background and finally, her cap and gown.

This was Kiana’s first outfit which also worked well under her cap and gown and the blue color complimented the background’s yellow and green colors.

We started off with the sports photography at her home high school which shows her high school in the background. Some seniors like photographing on the track itself, which is another great option. Then we drove to a nearby park and continued photographing with her other outfits. The large park allowed for different types of backgrounds from waterfalls to trees and a variety of colors to compliment the outfits that she wore.

The nearby park she chose had areas with benches and rocks which helped me photograph different types of posing from sitting to standing. Having a variety of areas in a location and a variety of outfits provides the senior to have a variety of images to choose from.

These sessions took about 2 hours total and that may seem like a long time, but some of the time is used for chatting, changing outfits, changing locations and we take our time with posing so that the senior is relaxed and feeling comfortable, which make for some beautiful images that this senior and her family loved!

It may be a long time before you have the time to get professional pictures, take it from me, my son and daughter have graduated from high school and they are so busy with life, it’s hard to nail them down for pictures!
